March 25 — Free admission to the North American Gallery, registration open for painting creation

To celebrate the 2012 Arts Festival, the North American Gallery will offer free admission all day on March 25 (Sunday), the day of the festival. The themed activity "Messages of Spring Among the Treetops" will also take place in the afternoon in the gallery lobby, featuring large-scale group painting creation; online reservations will open at 10:00 AM on March 13. Families and friends are welcome to join the North American Gallery and step into the artistic ambiance of spring together.

The themed activity "Messages of Spring Among the Treetops" echoes the recent renewal of the children’s education space at the North American Gallery. Through collective painting on three-dimensional tree-shaped canvases, it symbolizes the hope of planting a tree, envisioning the future birth of an open, friendly space that serves as a social hub and an art education center promoting interaction and dialogue. On March 25, each participating group will, under the guidance of staff, use various art supplies and colored paper to decorate a 220 cm tall tree-shaped cardboard piece. Participants may also bring their own materials to personalize their theme trees. The 30 completed theme trees will be displayed together in the gallery lobby, creating an indoor forest. All participants and visitors can enjoy or sit under these trees, sharing thoughts about their creations and engaging in a moment of imaginative artistic expression.

On March 25, the Arts Festival day, the North American Gallery will feature various exhibitions including the ongoing first-floor exhibition "Taiwan Contemporary: Playing with Antiquity to Allude to the Present," the second-floor exhibition "Traversing Jiangnan—Chen Cheng-po’s Artistic Journey," the third-floor exhibition "Tiny Viewpoints—Dot. Dot. Dot," as well as upcoming exhibitions "Chen Shiming → Probing Contexts" and "Huang Mingchang: A Field of the Heart." Educational programs include general group tours (10:30 AM, 2:30 PM) and family-oriented guided creative tours "Playing with Antiquity and Drama" (10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM). Additionally, from now until March 31, all books in the gallery’s basement "Art Bookstore" will be sold at a 10% discount, with some items available at a special 50% off (excluding items already on special offer).
