Sun Moon Lake’s lakeside cycling route is ranked among the world’s most beautiful bike paths
Sun Moon Lake’s lakeside cycling route has been selected by CNNGO, a lifestyle and travel website under CNN, as one of the world’s top ten most beautiful bike paths due to its stunning scenery, rich indigenous culture, and abundant natural ecology.
Sun Moon Lake boasts Taiwan’s largest lakeside cycling route, with a bike ride taking around three hours. CNNGO noted that the serene, emerald-green lake surface attracts numerous visitors from Taiwan and Japan every year, inspiring many poets and painters. The indigenous Thao culture of Sun Moon Lake and the area’s unique ecological environment further make it a distinctive destination.

Additionally, the recently completed Shuishe–Xiangshan cycling path, approximately 3 kilometers long, includes a 400-meter water section. The entire route runs along the lakeshore, featuring breathtaking views and gentle slopes. Near the Xiangshan Visitor Center, bridges such as Yongjie Bridge, Tongxin Bridge, and the Wedding Square offer new photo spots for couples taking wedding photos, while the beach area also presents a creative new attraction at Sun Moon Lake.
