Saturday Art Feast: Ten Drums Art Percussion Group’s Grand Debut in Taichung

As part of the “2012 Carrefour Culture and Arts Season” tour, following the enthusiastic responses to the Ten Drums Art Percussion Group’s performance in Tainan in January and the If Children’s Theater Troupe’s show in Kaohsiung in February, the Ten Drums Art Percussion Group will once again take the stage on March 24 (Saturday) at the Fulfillment Amphitheater in Taichung City, presenting their annual masterpiece “Splendor of Ten Drums.” The event is free to the public.

The Ten Drums Art Percussion Group is one of Taiwan’s top drumming ensembles, with works that have been nominated for the Grammy Awards in the United States. This performance of “Splendor of Ten Drums” brings together the group’s most iconic pieces over the years, delivering earth-shaking and soul-stirring performances. Highlights include “Summoning the Generals,” inspired by the image of the Eight Generals; “Crushing the Linked Horses,” adapted from the story of Song Jiang’s great victory in Water Margin; and “Chasing the Deer — Shining Over Mirror Lake,” based on the ancestral legends of the Thao people around Sun Moon Lake. The percussion combines dance and drama, enhanced with stunning light and sound effects, showcasing Taiwan’s diverse artistic expressions and the powerful resonance of drums.

The “Splendor of Ten Drums” performance at 7:00 PM on March 24 is free and does not require tickets. Free admission begins at 5:30 PM. The first 500 attendees will also have the opportunity to receive a souvenir. For more details, visit www.carrefour.org.tw or call 02-2898-4886.
