CNNGo's World's Top 10 Markets Ranks Bangkok's Or Tor Kor Market Fourth

Thailand's Or Tor Kor Market has been ranked fourth in the world's top ten markets by CNN Go. It is one of the largest fresh produce markets in Thailand, selling a diverse range of high-quality agricultural products including meat, eggs, Thai fruits, and fresh vegetables; processed foods such as curry pastes and salted fish; as well as Thai ready-to-eat items like crispy pork skin, pandan custard buns, and Thai curries. The market also offers locally grown and imported organic produce.

The name Or Tor Kor translates to "Farmers' Fresh Market Organization." It is managed by Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, serving as a fair trading platform for farmers to sell their products directly. The agricultural workforce makes up a significant portion of Thailand’s population. Or Tor Kor Market is located just south of Bangkok, adjacent to the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, across from Kamphaeng Phet Road. The Kamphaeng Phet MRT station sits right in front of the market. It is open daily from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Moreover, it is a source of fresh, high-quality agricultural goods, allowing visitors to Thailand to witness the vital role markets play in Thai community life, while also highlighting the close relationship between the Thai people and the country’s agricultural heritage. In the CNN Go ranking, La Boqueria in Barcelona, Spain, took first place, followed by Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo and the Union Square Greenmarket in New York City at second and third, respectively.
