A $1.5 billion facelift for SuperStar Gemini as it prepares for its Asia maiden voyage next year

The upgrades include enhancing the navigation system, redesigning the ship’s livery, and refurbishing various onboard facilities such as cabins, restaurants, entertainment and recreational amenities, retail and beauty services. Additionally, SuperStar Gemini will feature a new luxury duty-free shopping area. The ship is set to embark on its Asia maiden cruise in early 2013.

Star Cruises will invest US$50 million (approximately NT$1.5 billion) to renovate and upgrade the 50,764-ton SuperStar Gemini. The upgrades include enhancing the navigation system, redesigning the ship’s livery, and refurbishing various onboard facilities such as cabins, restaurants, entertainment and recreational amenities, retail and beauty services. In addition, SuperStar Gemini will introduce a new luxury duty-free shopping area. The ship will commence its Asia maiden cruise tour in early 2013.

From April to October 2013, SuperStar Gemini will be seasonally deployed to Shanghai, operating over 30 new cruises ranging from 3-night, 4-day itineraries to 6-night, 7-day voyages. The ship will visit popular ports of call including Jeju, Busan, Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Naha, Ishigaki Island, and Keelung. Star Cruises is also applying to relevant authorities for several special cruises between Shanghai and Taiwan based on market demand.

 

SuperStar Gemini offers a wide range of onboard facilities, including Chinese, Asian, and international dining options, open-air barbecues, performance venues, karaoke rooms, a spa and wellness center, beauty and hair salons, a kids’ zone, and swimming pools to meet guests' dining and entertainment needs. The ship has 766 cabins with a total capacity of 1,532 passengers, featuring ocean-view cabins, deluxe suites, and executive suites. Additionally, the newly added 4,000-square-foot shopping space offers duty-free sales of premium watches, jewelry, designer handbags, and more.
