Tainan Food Festival Point Marathon Offers Prizes Up to NT$10,000

Tainan is the origin of Taiwanese history, preserving the culinary characteristics of local and foreign cultures over the past four hundred years, which have also contributed to the uniqueness of Tainan’s street food. The Tainan Tourism Bureau will launch the “2012 Tainan Food Festival” series of events starting December 1. This one-month-long food festival will divide 338 food establishments across Greater Tainan into “Eight Food Special Zones.” A “Sweet Point Collection for Prizes” campaign will be held, where customers who collect 10 stamps by dining at these eight zones can bring home a variety of prizes worth a total of nearly NT$300,000. There’s also the highly anticipated “Food Point Collection Marathon,” where the top three participants with the most stamps can win substantial cash prizes—the first place winner will receive NT$10,000.

This year’s series of events also include the “Sweet City·Romantic Food Tour” and the “Tainan Gourmet Essay Competition.” Participants who complete one or two-day Tainan travel itineraries will be guided through must-try foods during breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack time, and late-night meals at the “Eight Food Special Zones.” Even hidden gem spots or eateries on foodies’ secret lists will be introduced, allowing more people to experience this city rich in history and known as a “museum of gourmet delights” through photos and articles. The “Sweet City·Romantic Food Tour” will award a total prize of NT$7,000, selecting three top entries. Meanwhile, the “Tainan Gourmet Essay Competition” will also select three winning entries and award a total prize of NT$12,000.

Additionally, the “2012 Tainan Food Festival” stamp collection booklet can be picked up at the City Government Citizens’ Service Center, district offices, as well as at railway station tourist service centers in Tainan and other counties/cities.
