Macau’s Winter Venice Giant Light Show Kicks Off Today

Traveling to Macau in December not only allows you to soak in the festive Christmas atmosphere, but also lets you experience Macau’s biggest winter festival event—the Winter Venice—at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel from now until January 13, 2013. Over the course of this eight-week event, aside from featuring Macau’s largest Christmas tree and dazzling light decorations, there will also be a large-scale outdoor 3D light projection show titled “Fantasy of the Four Seasons,” covering an area of over 4,000 square meters. Other highlights include an outdoor ice rink and the performance of “Swan Lake on Ice” by the Moscow-based ice performance troupe, Imperial Ice Stars, offering visitors a colorful winter spectacle of sound and light.

The most eye-catching highlight of Winter Venice is undoubtedly the dazzling “Fantasy of the Four Seasons” 3D light projection show. The performance runs every evening from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, free of charge, at the outdoor lakeside area of The Venetian Macao, with shows every 30 minutes and each lasting about 10 minutes. Covering an area of more than 4,000 square meters, the light show is themed around the four seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter—and set to melodious music, projecting the magical changes of nature’s four seasons onto the exterior walls of The Venetian’s main building. Visitors can enjoy an unprecedented visual spectacle. Gondola boats will also set sail on weekend evenings, allowing guests to cruise the outdoor lake while admiring the light show.

The outdoor venue of The Venetian Macao is decorated under the theme of “Winter Venice.” In addition to sparkling lights and festive displays, the lakeside area features Macau’s largest outdoor Christmas tree. Amidst the joyful holiday ambiance, visitors can also show off their moves on the only outdoor artificial ice rink on the Cotai Strip, and interact or take photos with street performers including the Snow Queen, the Nutcracker Army, and magicians along the way.

 

Additionally, the world-renowned “Swan Lake on Ice” will be staged at the Venetian Theatre, performed by the internationally acclaimed Moscow-based ice performance troupe, Imperial Ice Stars, featuring top skaters from around the globe who have won Olympic, World, European, and national championship medals. The show combines figure skating, Tchaikovsky’s classical music, and elaborately designed ice stage sets by renowned Australian stage designer Eamon D’Arcy, delivering a spectacular performance. Other live performances at the Venetian Theatre include a concert by Grammy Award-winning band The Commodores. The CotaiArena will also host concerts by several famous Asian pop singers and bands, including the Korean group 2PM and Hong Kong singer Hacken Lee.
