The Invincible Super Man-1 vs. Iron Man Robot Special Exhibition Debuts at National Museum of Natural Science

The robot craze has spread from Taipei to Taichung. The “Robots All-Star Rally” special exhibition has now moved from Taipei to the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung. From vintage collectible robots to modern AI-powered machines, from science fiction film fantasies to real-life cutting-edge applications—showcasing robots spanning the century from 1920 to 2012. This includes fan favorites like Invincible Super Man-1 and Tetsujin 28 from the 5th and 6th grades generation, as well as more recent well-known characters like Iron Man and everyone’s beloved Wall-E, all making classic comebacks in the Robots All-Star Rally exhibition.

The Robots All-Star Rally exhibition runs from now until March 3, 2013. This special exhibition has gathered over a hundred robot exhibits from around the world, including many “world firsts” in robotics—such as the first robot sketch, the earliest mass-produced robot “Little People No.”, the first robot novel *I, Robot*, the first industrial robot Unimate, and the world’s smallest humanoid robot BeRobot. In addition, many iconic sci-fi movie robots are also a major highlight of the exhibition. For example, Maria from *Metropolis*, listed as a UNESCO Memory of the World item, is not only the ancestor of movie robots but her design has also influenced contemporary pop icons such as Madonna, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga. Characters from *Star Wars* like C-3PO, R2-D2, Darth Vader, and stormtroopers take fans on a nostalgic journey through the legendary film series.

In the Iron Man zone, besides the Mark series armor suits, there are also exclusive Marvel comic hero editions that robot fans can’t miss—like the blue Iron Man and Iron Hulk statues. Additionally, there’s a recreation of the thrilling scene from *The Matrix* where APU robots battle squid-like machines, cyborg robots from *The Terminator* and *RoboCop*, robotic armor from *Avatar*, Thor’s Destroyer, Sonny from *I, Robot*, and the adorable cleaning robot Wall-E. All the classic robots from these iconic films will be fully displayed at the exhibition.

Other featured exhibits include the intelligent robot NAO, mascot of the France Paris Region at the Shanghai World Expo, NASA’s guide robot RoboShakespeare, vintage tin robot toys, and pet-type robot SONY AIBO. Beyond visual enjoyment and awe, the exhibition further presents the historical background of robot evolution and how it has influenced our current technology and lifestyle.
