Rural fruit picking and wetland exploration: Changhua winter camp for only NT$290 per person

The long winter vacation is about to begin. In addition to the travel plans arranged by parents for the New Year, various camp activities will also kick off one after another to make children’s winter break more fulfilling. The “2013 Sunshine Culture Leisure Tour – A Healthy and Happy Fun Winter Vacation” camp organized by Changhua County Cultural Affairs Bureau will take place in January and February. It covers multiple aspects such as photography art, wetland exploration, visiting ancient towns, and rural fruit picking, and online registration is now open. To celebrate the 290th anniversary of Changhua County’s establishment, the registration fee has been uniformly discounted to NT$290, and participants will receive a rice-grain baby doll on the day of the camp activity.

The winter camp activities in January include “The Art World of Little Photographers” on January 23, “Fubao Ecology and Marine Culture Experience Camp” on January 24 and 25, “Little Farmers’ Fruit Picking and Kiln Fun” on January 26, “Young Scholars’ Cultural Elegance Study Camp” on January 27, and “Let’s All Make Tea Together – Winter Tea Camp” on January 28. The February activities consist of “Artfully Welcoming the Snake Year – Magic Art Creation Camp” on February 1, “Children Explore the Past – Discovering Changhua City” on February 2, “Little Farmers’ Fruit Picking and Kiln Fun” on February 3, and “Dairy Cow Ecology Experience Camp” on February 6.

 

Among these, to coincide with this year’s “Year of the Snake,” the Cultural Affairs Bureau has specially organized the “Artfully Welcoming the Snake Year – Magic Art Creation Camp.” Through three course creations — “Full Snake Feet, Festive Celebration,” “Golden Snake Welcomes Spring, Creative Spring Festival Couplets PK,” and “Dreams Take Flight, Large Lantern Creation” — children are guided to understand new aesthetic concepts from local traditional New Year culture. From design to hands-on creation, they incorporate personal imagination, encounter the sparks ignited by the fusion of traditional crafts and diverse materials, and experience a rich festive atmosphere.

The “Fubao Ecology and Marine Culture Experience Camp” allows participants to visit the Fubao Ecological Education Park to appreciate the beauty of the natural ecology of Fubao Wetland and the local marine culture. Activities include riding an oyster boat to experience oyster farming life, leading students to visit the country’s largest dairy farming zone, and DIY courses such as shell patchwork mobiles or waterfowl figurine painting. The “Little Farmers’ Fruit Picking and Kiln Fun” arranges for students to enjoy the fun of baking sweet potatoes and corn in the fields, letting every participant pick a bag of kumquats and plant a pot of winter flowers to take home. Through experiential learning and observation, combined with professional park tours, families can experience rural life and learn ecological knowledge.

Additionally, “Children Explore the Past – Discovering Changhua City” will lead children and their parents to learn about the history of Changhua County’s establishment and explore the ancient city firsthand. They will gain an in-depth understanding of Changhua’s historical sites, culture, and art, and enhance parent-child interaction through a series of challenge activities.
