Korean Traditional Performances at Shin-Yi ViVi Cinema Showcase Gyeonggi-do Culture

To promote the beautiful spring scenery and rich cultural festivals of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, an outdoor promotional event titled "Let’s go to Gyeonggi-do, South Korea ~ Explore Spring in Gyeonggi-do with Miss Flower," jointly organized by the Korea Tourism Organization, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, and co-organized by the Taipei City Government Department of Information and Tourism, will take place today (the 23rd) and tomorrow (the 24th) from 14:00 to 19:00 on the first-floor plaza of Shin-Yi ViVi Cinema in Xinyi District.

To allow Taiwanese audiences to experience the rich cultural heritage of Gyeonggi-do, the event has specially invited the "Anseong Namsadang," a performance troupe that originated in Anseong City, Gyeonggi-do, during the late Joseon period. Namsadang refers to groups that traditionally perform variety shows, tightrope walking, mask dances, puppet plays, and folk performances in markets and villages across Korea. Scenes commonly seen in traditional Korean dramas can now be witnessed live at the Gyeonggi-do event. Additionally, at 15:30 and 17:30 each day, there will be live demonstrations of bowl spinning and tightrope walking techniques by the Namsadang.

 

In addition, visitors can also try traditional Korean games such as shuttlecock kicking and pitch-pot, try on beautiful Hanbok traditional clothing and receive a Polaroid photo, while multiple travel agencies will be present to provide travel information about Gyeonggi-do. A wealth of Gyeonggi-do tourism brochures will also be available for free. Korean mascots including the "Big Head Doll" and "EBS Doll" will appear throughout the event, performing popular K-pop dances and interacting with the public.
