The cherry blossom season arrives as sakura begin to bloom in March.

Japan’s cherry blossom front begins gently touching the southernmost point in Okinawa, then slowly moves northward. Since last year, new flight routes between Japan and Taiwan have been launched one after another. This year, cherry blossom viewing is not limited to metropolitan areas—you can combine entries and exits through different flight hubs to explore inland destinations, making cherry blossom routes more diverse. The terrain of northeastern Japan is long and narrow, so spring arrives later there, offering scenery distinct from that of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, creating a natural beauty where winter and spring coexist. As a result, the cherry blossom season also lasts longer.

According to the cherry blossom front forecast released by the Japan Meteorological Agency, cherry blossoms in Kyushu will bloom from March 20 to 22, in Shikoku from March 18 to 26, in Chugoku from March 24 to 29, in Kansai from March 23 to April 2, in Tokai from March 22 to 30, in Kanto from March 25 to April 12, in Hokuriku from April 2 to 9, in Tohoku from April 10 to 24, and the northernmost Hokkaido from May 1 to 7.

To welcome the arrival of spring, the northeastern region will hold the “Sendai 'Miyagi Destination Campaign' Promotion Event” from April 1 to June 30. In coordination with three flight hubs—Hakodate, Sendai, and Shin-Chitose—various activities are being offered, including giving out eco-bags to passengers arriving at Sendai Airport on Thursdays and Sundays from April 1 to June 30. East Japan Railway (JR East) is issuing the JR East Pass Special (3-day ticket) for 15,000 yen (approximately NT$4,800, originally 29,320 yen) from April 1 to June 30, in conjunction with the event. Additionally, local souvenirs will be given away at around 10 locations within Miyagi Prefecture, including Sendai Station, and special sightseeing buses will operate between Matsushima and Hiraizumi, along with celebratory events.
