With the lavender blossoming in Furano, Hokkaido, in July, beautiful wildflowers such as lilies, poppies, lupines, and cosmos also begin to bloom along the roadsides of Biei and Furano. Kamifurano FLOWER LAND

Set against the backdrop of Mount Tokachi, Kamifurano FLOWER LAND boasts an excellent view overlooking the city. The vast flower fields stretching along the hillside cover a total area of 15 hectares. From June onwards, flowers such as lupines, lavender, poppies, dahlias, sunflowers, marguerites, and cosmos bloom in rotation. There is also a lavender field where you can experience picking lavender by hand, as well as various experiences like pressed flower crafting.

Tomita Farm

Tomita Farm is the most famous flower farm in Furano and the mastermind behind deeply implanting the image of "Furano = Lavender" in everyone's mind. The vast grounds are roughly divided into five major flower zones, among which the romantic purple lavender fields and the colorful flower fields that look like gorgeous carpets are the most iconic landscapes. The farm also offers a rich variety of original products such as dried flowers, perfumes, and essential oils. Don’t forget to try their most famous purple lavender soft serve ice cream！

Transportation: About 3 minutes by car or about 25 minutes on foot from JR Nakafurano Station. Or take the summer and autumn limited (June–October) Furano Biei Norokko Train (ノロッコ号) and get off at JR Lavender Field Station, then walk 7 minutes.

Forest Elf Terrace

Legend has it that 15-centimeter-tall forest elves live in the forests of Furano. The Forest Elf Terrace, located in the woods next to the New Furano Prince Hotel, even has a cute sign that says “Please do not make loud noises so as not to disturb the forest elves.” There are a total of 17 wooden cabins in the woods, all selling handmade goods by Furano artisans, such as wooden carvings of owls and mini bands, glass items with ice and snow themes, iron fox bottle openers, and candles in the shapes of wood or mushrooms—all exquisitely cute. In the evening, the entire area is lit up, adding to the atmosphere.

Transportation: About 10 minutes by car from JR Furano Station, or take the Furano Bus Lavender Line (ラベンダー号) and get off at the terminal station “New Furano Prince Hotel (New Furano Prince Hotel).”

popura farm Nakafurano

The muskmelon specialty shop popura farm in Nakafurano launches an original dessert every summer called “Santa’s Beard,” which you’ll definitely want to try after just one glance: juicy orange local muskmelons filled with rich, creamy Hokkaido milk soft serve ice cream—not only does it have an ultra-Hokkaido vibe, but the carefully selected melons are also sweet and juicy, absolutely delicious.
