However, sharp-eyed visitors who go to see the duck in September might notice that it appears a bit smaller? This is because “Duck Dad” Hofman adjusts the size and structure of the duck according to the environmental conditions of the exhibition site. The duck that played in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour reached 16.5 meters, but for the lake waters in Beijing, it had to be custom-made and will appear at around 10 meters in size.
As for the duck’s play area this time, it is expected to be in the waters within Beijing’s Third Ring Road. The Third Ring can be conceptually compared to the ring-shaped area around Taichung’s Fengyuan Boulevard. Inside the ring is Beijing’s bustling economic and trade commercial district, which also includes the China Millennium Monument built to welcome the new millennium, as well as Yuyuantan Park, covering an area of over 100 hectares with nearly 200,000 plants for visitors to explore. Going further inside the Second Ring Road, you can also visit the Temple of Heaven, the world’s largest existing complex of structures dedicated to heaven worship and used by emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as Tiananmen Square, offering visitors a quintessentially Chinese duck-chasing experience.
