Challenge your photography eye！The Taipei Art Photography Expo opens in September

Photography enthusiasts, take note！From September 19 to 22 this year, Taiwanese photographers will join forces with international photographers for the first time to hold the “2013 Taipei Art Photography Expo.” It is also the first art photography expo initiated by Taiwanese photography artists, bringing together works from over 10 countries, featuring 50 photographers and more than 60 exhibition booths at the Taipei Expo Dome. The event includes six major themes: exhibitions of contemporary art photography from Taiwan and abroad, photography books & handmade photobooks, photography academic forums, emerging photographers’ slideshow shows, introductions by international photography auction houses & classic collections exhibits, and creative photography cultural product exhibits—offering something for everyone.

The exhibited works span both contemporary and modern periods, ranging from traditional hand-printed enlargements to digital outputs. Each piece is filled with warmth, texture, and emotion. In addition to straightforward photography, popular techniques such as “collage” and “composite” are also on display. Photographers deconstruct and reassemble large numbers of (digital-era) images to deliver visual impacts that transcend everyday experiences or to depict abstract concepts that are hard to put into words. The event also features a series of panel discussions where photographers, writers, and collectors explore the intersection of photography, literature, and collecting. Additionally, there will be talks by Asia’s only photography auction house, aiming to foster a photography auction culture in Taiwan.

 

During the event, eight photography academic forums will be held, with speakers including Lii Liang-yuan, CEO of Liang Yuan Art; Li Xin, Image Department Manager of Beijing Huachen Auction Co., Ltd.; Huang Wen-yung and Chiu Kuo-chun, Associate Professors from the Department of Visual Communication Design at Kunshan University of Science and Technology; and Huang Hua-an, an art master's graduate and photography artist.
