Kaohsiung Night Kicks Off Tomorrow Night with Mayday as the Closing Act

The important Asia-Pacific regional forum, the "Asia-Pacific Cities Summit," commenced today. The "Kaohsiung Night" to be held at Glory Pier at 19:00 on September 10 welcomes over 1,000 distinguished guests from more than 100 countries worldwide. Kaohsiung’s Global Ambassador and Asian supergroup Mayday will also deliver an energetic live performance. Produced to concert standards, the event offers free admission with no tickets required—everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Taiwan’s largest international event of the year, the "2013 Kaohsiung Asia-Pacific Cities Summit," runs through the 11th. Around 1,000 distinguished guests from 102 global cities have gathered here. The welcoming gala on the evening of the 10th will be held at Glory Pier at 19:00. The entire evening show is produced to concert standards, featuring performances by Ding Dang, Yenjui, MP Magic Power, and Mayday. It also incorporates local Kaohsiung cultural elements such as the World Games San Taizi performance and the Songjiang Battle Array by Shihmen Campus of Shih Chien University, inviting all Asia-Pacific Cities Summit delegates and the general public to celebrate together at Glory Pier—spending a happy, romantic, lyrical, and rockin’ Kaohsiung Night.

 

Among the performers at the evening gala, Ding Dang—who sang the theme song for the 2011 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival and has won multiple music awards in the Chinese-speaking world—will perform moving songs such as “I Am Just a Little Bird” and “The Palm of Your Hand.” Yenjui, a 100% original musician born and raised in Kaohsiung who just finished filming a music video in the city, will sing love ballads including “In Pursuit” and “My Temporary Boyfriend.” The electronic rock band MP Magic Power, known for featuring “Mama Yeh” in their “Archer Dance” music video, will perform hits like “Criminal of Feeling” and “Who Am I,” offering attendees a fresh and unique experience. The evening will close with performances by Mayday, the Asian rock legends and Kaohsiung Global Ambassadors, who hold records for concerts in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest (3 shows, 300,000 attendees total) and the World Games Main Stadium (4 shows, 200,000 attendees total). They will play crowd favorites including “OAOA,” “Departure from Earth’s Surface,” “I Don’t Want to Let You Be Alone,” “Three Idiots,” “Cheers,” and “Sad People Shouldn’t Listen to Slow Songs.”

 

To ensure the smooth running of the "2013 Asia-Pacific Cities Summit – Kaohsiung Night," the two-way section of Haibian Road (from Wufu Road to Qingnian 2nd Road) and the Xilinhang Line bicycle path (from the starting point at Zhen’ai Pier to Qingnian 2nd Road) will be closed to all vehicles from 16:00 to 23:00 on the 10th. The entrance to Gongyuan Road leading to Zhen’ai Pier will also be closed to all vehicles from 14:00 to 23:00. Additionally, temporary motorcycle parking spaces along the roadside on the west side of Haibian Road (from Qingnian Road to Ling’an Road) will be available from 14:00 to 23:00. For public transportation, visitors can take the MRT to City Council Station and walk to the venue, or take the MRT to Sanduo Shopping District Station and transfer to R18 bus to Glory Pier Station. Alternatively, you can take the Circular Route 168, Bus No. 0 South, 0 North, 11, 25, 33, 50 (Wufu Trunk Line), 76, 77, or 214 to get off at Kaohsiung Girls’ High School or Hanshin Department Store, then walk to the venue.
