5 Must-Visit Christmas Destinations at Hong Kong's WinterFest

The outdoor plaza of Ocean Terminal at Harbour City features a Christmas light display that is a must-visit for travelers celebrating Christmas in Hong Kong. This year, Harbour City has collaborated with Hong Kong Disneyland to present a luxurious, 360-degree panoramic grand mansion theme adorned with festive decorations. Over 30 Christmas trees of various sizes are spread across the plaza, each decorated with unique three-dimensional Mickey Mouse head ornaments and colorful Christmas ribbons. Mickey and Minnie statues, serving as the hosts of the grand mansion, welcome guests from the balcony at the main entrance of Ocean Terminal. Seven Disney characters are also featured inside oversized Christmas decorations exceeding two meters in height. The mansion is further illuminated with dazzling crystal chandeliers, creating an atmosphere akin to a grand Christmas party.

This year, New Town Plaza in Sha Tin has constructed a light art installation in its outdoor Starlight Garden, ingeniously blending architecture with lighting. Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance classical architectural style of 15th-century Florence, the installation uses over 100,000 purple and pink LED lights to create a stunning visual spectacle. Visitors can make wishes under the 11-meter-high Starry Night Chapel wall and the sparkling dome canopy, which spans 4,450 TN. Every 30 minutes, a 3D projection light show and a magical snowfall experience are presented.

In Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay, Argentine contemporary artist Javier Gonzalez Burgos has created a whimsical Christmas forest for the outdoor plaza and second-floor lobby of Times Square. The exhibition draws inspiration from one of his most iconic characters, enhanced with classic Christmas elements. Various animals step out of Burgos’s paintings to become three-dimensional characters, complemented by mechanical installations and festive lighting. The exquisitely detailed scenes from Burgos’s artwork come to life in Times Square, offering a one-of-a-kind dreamlike experience.
