Additionally, from today until December 1, the Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Miscanthus Flower Season features the “Enjoy Miscanthus, Win iPad mini Weekly” event; last week’s Guanziling Hot Spring Festival added colorful murals on the retaining wall next to the Sky Ladder, creating a new highlight for the historic hot spring town. Kaohsiung is hosting the “2013 Kaohsiung Veterans Village Culture Festival” on November 23 and 24, themed “Coming Home for the Festival,” showcasing the culinary culture of the veterans’ villages. In southernmost Taiwan, Pingtung will hold its first-ever “Stone Lion Deity Cultural Festival” on November 23 to promote the precious cultural heritage of stone lion deities.

New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town
The lighting show starting today will begin at 18:30. From the 23rd onward, shows will run every hour and half-hour from 18:00 to 22:00, featuring spectacular sound-and-light displays. The Civic Plaza and surrounding areas of the city government will also transform into a beautiful sea of lights, with colorful and playful designs delivering a romantic Christmas celebration for all.

Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Miscanthus Flower Season
From today until December 1, the “2013 Grass Mountain Ancient Trail Miscanthus Flower Season,” organized by the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration, features special events every weekend along the 8.5-kilometer ancient trail. Activities include rest stops with tea, interactive games, DIY workshops, and fun for all, as well as on-site lucky draws for “Dress Creatively” and “Explore the Ancient Trail, Win Prizes Weekly.” Participants can fill out DM raffle tickets and submit them on-site to join. Prizes include an Apple iPad mini (16GB), Morena Double Sea View Room Stay Coupons, Nikon Stylish Digital Cameras, Odrona Hiking Backpacks, La New Health Shoes, Shinewang Delicious Pastry Gift Boxes, Taiwan Tourist Shuttle - Golden Fulong Line Tickets, and fun zipper bags—over 600 exciting prizes in total.

Guanziling Murals
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the completion and opening of the Guanziling Hot Spring Public Bathhouse. To allow visitors to deeply experience the development history and culture of the Guanziling hot spring town, the Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau created a 15-meter-long and 2.5-meter-wide mural art on the retaining wall next to the Sky Ladder. The artwork integrates the original appearance of Guanziling from the 1913 (Taisho 2nd Year) Guanziling Hot Spring Picture Postcard, as well as elements of hot springs, Hero Slope, Old Street, Sacred Spring, butterflies, plants, and other humanistic, natural ecological, and historical aspects. After 15 days of work, visitors to the hot springs can learn about southern Taiwan’s ancient hot spring town through the murals.

2013 Kaohsiung Veterans Village Culture Festival
The Veterans Village Culture Festival has entered its sixth year. This year’s theme is “Coming Home for the Festival.” The two-day event includes a veterans village cultural relics exhibition, guided tours, veteran village cuisine, a second-hand market, and creative veteran village activities. On the afternoon of November 23, surrounding villages are specially invited to join the “Thousand People Making Dumplings” event, where around 3,000 people are expected to make dumplings together and share the dumplings symbolizing good fortune. In the evening, the Veterans Village Carnival evokes the club activities of the early Women’s League and welcomes everyone to celebrate a festive evening full of holiday spirit.

Pingtung Stone Lion Deity Cultural Festival
The “First Daluoguan Stone Lion Deity Cultural Festival,” organized by the Pingtung County Hakka Affairs Office, will kick off at 13:00 on the 23rd. The event includes a variety of performances and exhibitions. First, at the square in front of Shuntian Temple in Guangfu Village, Shushu Township, lion dance troupes from elementary, high schools, universities, and communities will parade through the village. The Hā Qí Gǔ Cultural Art Troupe and Xì ǒu Zǐ Theater Troupe will interpret the origins and evolution of the stone lion deity culture through glove puppet performances. Static exhibits include colored drawings of stone lions by elementary school students, community stones, and old photos of the stone lion deities. At the end, the organizers will prepare 500 portions of stone lion deity... for visitors to take home.
