The Little Yellow Duck Heads to Keelung’s 5 Must-Visit Themed Zones – Here’s What You Need to Know

The 18-meter-tall Little Yellow Duck that will appear at Keelung Ocean Plaza has been custom-fitted with a rotatable floating platform, making this Keelung Little Yellow Duck uniquely stand out like a spinning music box. This allows duck fans to encounter the yellow duck face-on from any angle and feel its captivating charm. Additionally, a “Duck Fans’ Energy Gathering” activity will be organized, where the most popular zone will determine the duck’s spinning direction.

 

This year’s event has also invited balloon artist Li Cheng... to use 100,000 colorful balloons to turn the Port Authority building into a balloon duck amusement park, featuring 7 major exhibition areas. As you enter, you’ll find a magical tunnel, followed by a giant bathtub and bathroom, reflecting the original intention behind Florentijn Hofman’s creation of the Little Yellow Duck. In addition, to echo Keelung’s local Miaokou characteristics, a world-champion balloon artwork, the “Temple of the Earth God,” is recreated, allowing the public to witness up close the extraordinary fusion of high-level balloon art and traditional craftsmanship. At the main scene, there’s Santa Claus and a snowman, the Yuan Family, a giant Angry Birds invasion, a horse celebrating the New Year, and a massive 6-meter balloon duck. The site also features a sales area for Little Yellow Duck merchandise, offering festive Christmas-themed “Happy Ducks” and Chinese New Year “Lucky Wealth Ducks.”

 

At the Yangming Marine Culture and Art Museum, a historic building that best represents Keelung’s marine culture and arts, a special “Little Yellow Duck Around the World Exhibition” will be held to take duck fans on an exploration of the duck’s world. The museum will also host the “Ya Ya Creative Market” and “Ya Xiang Bao” activities in the Marine Culture Art Gallery.

 

In addition, floors one and four of the cultural museum, operated by The Regent Taipei, offer refined dining with Little Duck-themed meals and snacks. There is also a 24-hour banquet venue that remains open around the clock, suitable for hosting Christmas parties, New Year’s Eve dinners, year-end banquets, or family gatherings. In collaboration with the local Keelung Fishing Association, the banquet hall presents the “Duck Axis Feast” featuring a full menu of duck dishes. On the first floor indoors, you can enjoy the winter favorite hot pot dish, “Chicken Talks to Duck Hot Pot,” which combines sesame oil chicken and ginger duck into a Taiji-style pot—perfect for enjoying delicious food while taking in the best full view of the Little Yellow Duck.

Ocean Heart Plaza (formerly the East Coast Parking Lot) at the intersection of Ren’ai 2nd Road in Keelung has nearly 250 food, fun, and entertainment stalls spread across its first and second floors. The outdoor space on the second floor offers one of the best views of the Little Yellow Duck while helping visitors avoid the crowds at Ocean Plaza. During the event period, the Happy Duck zone will launch a Christmas charity bazaar and distribute limited-edition gifts during the Spring Festival. Visitors can also get a raffle ticket by stamping their passport at the Happy Duck service desk and participate in weekly prize draws. The site also features a “Happy Little Duck Mailbox” where people can send postcards with the image of the Happy Little Duck to spread love and happiness to their loved ones.

 

A world-rare giant Little Yellow Duck land art made of 100,000 wish windmills is located in the beautifully mountainous “Yongheng Cultural and Creative Park” in Keelung. The land art spans nearly 90 meters in both width and height, drawing waves of admiration from onlookers as the wind blows. The developer of “Yongheng Cultural and Creative Park,” the Kuo Tung Group, is currently applying for a Guinness World Record for this unique windmill duck and has also launched initiatives for companies and individuals to adopt and assemble the wish windmills forming the duck’s shape to support disadvantaged groups in Keelung.
