Colorful flower seas burst into bloom, while the Maple Trail welcomes the New Year with romance

The Dafongdafu Plain Forest Park is located in Guangfu Township, within the East Rift Valley. It lies between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range, offering expansive views between the two mountain ranges. The park has planted nearly 20 common tree species that intertwine to form vast woodlands. A 13-kilometer cycling trail winds through the forest paths of the north-south loop, flanked by neatly arranged trees with diverse and rich forest compositions. Here you can find Taiwan beech, Michelia compressa, camphor trees, glossypetalum, maple, large-leaved nanmu, smilax china, cyclobalanopsis glauca, Chinese tallow tree, and Koelreuteria paniculata. Especially during the current “maple” viewing season, the leaves transition from green to yellow or red, covering the trails. Cycling under the winter sun, occasionally hearing the crisp sound of tires crunching fallen leaves, the serene forest echoes with gentle rustles. You might even spot the rare and elegant Mikado pheasant, making the natural wild charm truly refreshing.

Wu Kunming, Director of the Hualien Forest District Office, stated that from New Year’s Day 2014 to the Lunar New Year period, an 11-hectare totem flower sea has been planned, making it the most dazzling and largest single-area landscape flower sea in the East Rift Valley. The earth canvas uses shrubs to outline a rainbow against totems of Amis warriors and beauties, paired with floral designs of flowing clouds and rising suns, fully expressing the charm of the East Rift Valley. A large area is planted with rapeseed flowers, presenting a vast sense of openness. The graceful and bright yellow-orange rapeseed flowers reflect the distant mountains, showcasing the enchanting beauty of the East Rift Valley.
