Teddy Bear Mini-Trips: Explore Taichung Park & Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village for the New Year

Although the teddy bear exhibition that took Taichung City by storm ended on the 5th of this month, the teddy bear craze will continue into the New Year. After reaching a consensus between the Taichung City Government and sponsors, 35 teddy bears will embark on a “Taichung Mini-Trip.” Currently, 11 teddy bears are scheduled to visit Taichung Park, and they will later appear on Jiguang Street and at the Fengyuan Lantern Festival through mid-February. Additionally, starting on the 18th, 28 teddy bears dressed in traditional costumes of Taiwan’s 14 indigenous tribes will celebrate the New Year and view cherry blossoms with visitors at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.

During the “2013 Teddy Bear Taichung Happy Carnival” in central Taiwan, 100 large teddy bear installation artworks, each with unique designs, attracted a whopping 3 million visitors. Although the event has concluded, plans are now in place for 35 teddy bears to go on mini-trips around Taichung. Starting today, 11 teddy bears will head to Taichung Park to celebrate the New Year with the public. From tomorrow (the 8th) to the 25th, other teddy bears will visit Jiguang Street, and from the 25th until just before Valentine’s Day, the teddy bears will also take part in the Fengyuan Lantern Festival.

 

In addition, from January 18 to April 20, another 28 teddy bears will don traditional costumes of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples, showcasing the unique styles of 14 different tribes, and will celebrate the Lunar New Year, admire cherry blossoms, and ride the cable car together with visitors at the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.
