American Express has launched a new promotion on RMB traveler’s cheques. From now until March 31, purchase RMB traveler’s cheques at Taiwan Bank’s foreign exchange branches or Hua Nan Bank. A single purchase of RMB 10,000 or more will earn you one Carrefour gift voucher worth NT$200; a purchase of RMB 20,000 or more will earn you one Carrefour gift voucher worth NT$500.

 

With the Lunar New Year coinciding with the peak travel season, using traveler’s cheques is the safest and most secure payment method when spending overseas. American Express RMB traveler’s cheques offer benefits such as replacement in case of loss, permanent validity, security, and more favorable exchange rates. They provide Taiwanese travelers with a safer and more convenient payment option when entering mainland China in the future.

 

American Express RMB traveler’s cheques are issued in denominations of RMB 500, reducing the risk of carrying large amounts of cash. If lost or stolen, they can be replaced. Additionally, the exchange rate for purchasing RMB traveler’s cheques is generally more favorable than that for cash and can be locked in before departure. Moreover, there are over 2,000 Bank of China branches within China, including those at major airports, that offer cash exchange services for RMB. Since American Express traveler’s cheques have no expiration date, unused cheques can be saved for future trips to China, kept as cash for emergencies, or held until a more favorable exchange rate arises before converting back to New Taiwan Dollars.
