CNNGO's Kaohsiung Special Premieres Globally Tonight — The World Sees Taiwan

Kaohsiung’s urban beauty and cultural arts take the stage on CNN once again, letting the world “see Kaohsiung” simultaneously. The American cable network CNNGO will premiere “The Beauty of Kaohsiung Harbor City” tonight (15th) at 18:30. The program includes exploring Kaohsiung’s artistic energy, visiting tourist attractions, and sampling night market delicacies, showcasing a leisurely lifestyle and diverse culture, and taking viewers on a journey through the city’s friendly and livable charm. In addition, the CNN website today features a special article on Kaohsiung, highlighting the Pier-2 Art Center, Sanba Residency, Hongmaogang Cultural Park, Dadong Arts Center, Shoushan Lover’s Viewpoint, and Cijin as five of the city’s top highlights.

CNNGO launches a global city travel program every month, each episode lasting 30 minutes, showcasing each city’s unique features and popular attractions to attract both local and international tourists, business travelers, and backpackers. Late last year, the team traveled specifically to Kaohsiung to film the 2013 Formoz Festival, which combines pop, indie, hip-hop, and rock music, and also visited the Pier-2 Art Center, which was transformed from an idle wharf warehouse into a hub of Southern Taiwan’s art scene.

The special feature showcases the evolution of Kaohsiung’s historical and cultural arts. For example, the Hongmaogang Cultural Park, after the relocation of residents in 1996, was turned into a preservation area full of harbor memories. The modern Dadong Arts Center offers one of the best venues for artistic performances. Both old history and new architecture extend Kaohsiung’s artistic energy to the world.

 

Renowned seafood and singer Huang Xiaohu recalling her childhood favorite place — Cijin — also appear through the lens, along with a full display of traditional and night market foods. CNNGO also visits the newly built LOVE Viewpoint in 2013, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Kaohsiung Harbor, where people of all ages can feel the warmth of love.
