Secret Sakura Spot in New Taipei: "Shiding Xiaogetou Nursery" Opens Temporarily for Limited Viewing
Last updated 2026-09-25 — The "2014 New Taipei Sakura Season – Sakura Mini Tour" kicks off at the previously unreleased sakura viewing spot, "Shiding Xiaogetou Nursery." From now until March 31, famous sakura viewing spots and hidden gems across various districts—including Shiding Xiaogetou Nursery, Tamsui Tianyuan Temple, and Wulai Scenic Area—will successively burst into beautiful blossoms. This year’s event also introduces themed sakura itineraries, such as urban sakura viewing, religious pilgrimage sakura tours, and family-friendly outings. These include: Zhonghe Taipei Trade Village No. 1, Tucheng Hope River, Xizhi Qingxiu Temple, Shiding Wuji Tianming Temple, Ruifang Gold Museum, and Jinshan Zhongshan Hot Spring Park... among other areas. The event also features photo contests, a Sakura Princess election, Valentine’s Day activities, hiking, expert-guided talks, and DIY sakura crafts—letting the public embark on their own unique "Sakura Mini Tour" to kick off 2014.

"Cherry Red Dawn" — between January and March each year, 150,000 cherry trees across New Taipei City’s 29 districts bloom in succession. First, the peach-pink petals of the city tree, the Taiwan Mountain Cherry, dance brilliantly in January and February, followed by the multi-petaled "Yaezakura" blooming vibrantly, and then the delicate pink "Yoshino Cherry" adorning the early spring scenery of March. During the Lunar New Year, New Taipei City truly lives up to its name as the "Romantic Sakura City." This year, the Xiaogetou Nursery in Shiding District is opening to the public for the first time, with visiting hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM from now until January 26.The last entry time is15:30.
Mayor Eric Chu stated that New Taipei City is home to over 150,000 cherry trees, which romantically bloom from January to March each year, making the city a "Romantic Sakura City of New Taipei!" Since integrating sakura viewing spots across various districts in 2012, the New Taipei Sakura Season has attracted millions of visitors every year. In 2013, the launch of the "Flower Viewing Express" became a guidebook for flower enthusiasts. This year’s "2014 New Taipei Sakura Season – Sakura Mini Tour" introduces themed sakura itineraries to make it more convenient for the public to enjoy the blossoms, allowing everyone to choose the sakura experience that suits them best and to witness the beauty of New Taipei’s widespread cherry plantings. Coupled with the official website’s weekly "Real-Time Flower Conditions" and the "Flower Viewing Express"’s instant updates, cherry blossom lovers can stay informed about bloom status anytime, ensuring a lucky sakura experience without leaving things to chance.
