Tickets for Taiwan High-Speed Rail's Qingming holiday travel period go on presale at midnight on March 7

This year's (2014) Qingming Festival features a three-day consecutive holiday. To meet the needs of passengers traveling home for tomb-sweeping and outings, Taiwan High-Speed Rail will operate 64 southbound and 38 northbound trains—totaling 102 additional services—during the five-day transport period from Thursday, April 3 to Monday, April 7. In total, 783 train services will be available over the five days. Additionally,starting at midnight on Friday, March 7,passengers can use the 24-hour high-speed rail partner convenience stores, online booking, the “T Express” mobile ticketing app, or the voice reservation system, or visit ticket windows and self-service kiosks at stations during operating hours to presale round-trip tickets for the transport period from April 3 to April 7.

High-Speed Rail authorities advise that stations will be crowded during the holiday period. To save valuable time, passengers are encouraged to reserve seats in advance and make full use of the more than 9,800 convenience store ticketing locations, as well as the fast and convenient “T Express” mobile ticketing service. Collect your tickets early so you can go straight to the platform and board upon arrival.

 

Regarding this year’s Qingming Festival transport plan and discounts, the free-seating service will remain available during the transport period. Passengers holding periodical tickets, return tickets, or Easycard co-branded cards may enter and ride by simply tapping their cards. Passengers using free seats are reminded not to occupy seats with luggage or ride in reserved-seat carriages. During the transport period, the “Early Bird Discount” allows passengers who book between 8 and 28 days before the departure date to enjoy discounts of up to 65%, 80%, or 90%. For some services, in addition to the 65% and 80% discounts, a minimum 90% discount is also available.Other applicable discounts include the “University Student Discount,” “Standard Class Cardholder Discount,” and “Business Class Limited Upgrade” promotions.Discounts not applicable include the “Off-Peak Weekday Discount,” “Senior Citizen Discount,” “Groups of 30 or More,” and “School Excursion” programs.
