1600 paper pandas say goodbye on Sunday as happiness continues to be spread by MRTs and buses

Panda lovers need not be too sad, though — aside from Yuan Zai at the zoo who is still growing healthily and keeping everyone company, some of Taipei’s MRT lines and buses also feature panda-themed designs, allowing commuters to enjoy the delightful vibe brought by these adorable creatures.

The previously popular “1600 Pandas World Tour – Taipei” exhibition is set to come to an end this Sunday. Panda lovers need not be too sad, though — aside from Yuan Zai at the zoo who is still growing healthily and keeping everyone company, some of Taipei’s MRT lines and buses also feature panda-themed designs, allowing commuters to enjoy the delightful vibe brought by these adorable creatures.

The second phase of the “1600 Pandas World Tour – Taipei” will be exhibited at the National Theater and Concert Hall Arts Square from now until March 30. In addition to the 1,600 paper pandas, there will also be 200 Formosan black bears that did not appear in the first phase. The exhibition is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and admission is free.

Additionally, the MRT Wenhu Line’s painted train — the “Yuan Zai Train,” launched earlier this year — features illustrations of Yuan Zai and the zoo both inside and outside the carriages. The train also includes “3D transparent Yuan Zai stickers” on the seats. When passengers sit down, friends taking photos can capture fun interactions, such as riding the train together or Yuan Zai patting their heads, simply by finding the right angle with a mobile phone, giving both children and adults heading to or from the zoo memorable moments.

As for the three-door low-floor buses painted with Yuan Zai, which connect Taipei City and New Taipei City, the entire vehicle is decorated with large illustrations of the panda Yuan Zai. The interior, from the floor and ceiling to the side panels, is covered with Yuan Zai-themed patterns, and even the handrails are painted to resemble the bamboo that pandas love. There are a total of five painted versions, including “Yuan Zai Riding a YouBike.”These designs captured the hearts of many people after being introduced last year.

Riding Capital Bus 307 not only offers the joy of being surrounded by Yuan Zai, but also allows you to explore various spots around Taipei and New Taipei City. Starting from the Minsheng community, you can get off at Minsheng Station and walk to Fùjǐn Street, or visit areas such as Taipei Main Station shopping district, Ximending, and Banqiao Global Mall, experiencing the unique thrill of having Yuan Zai accompany you around the Greater Taipei area.
