Having left Taiwan for the U.S. many years ago, Xu Yuhua wanders through dreams, capturing memories of her joyful childhood in Taiwan and a tribute to life. No matter who you are or where you come from, as long as you sit around the big “banquet” round table, we are all family. Surrounded by familiar fairy tale characters from childhood and the Taiwanese delicacies most missed by those abroad, we are reminded to cherish fleeting beautiful moments and to more deeply appreciate the simple joys and local culture that have accompanied our growth—culture that is unpretentious, genuine, and heartwarming.

Taiwan-born Martin Hsu (Xu Yuhua) now resides in San Francisco. For the past decade, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to his distinctive artistic creations and can be considered one of the most active Asian artists on the U.S. West Coast. After earning an animation degree from CSUF in the U.S., he began working on character design for Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. In recent years, Martin has participated multiple times in exhibitions hosted by major American media including Sanrio, Warner Brothers, and Disney.

Winding along a small path, immerse yourself in the nostalgic scenery of the peony garden, surrounded by familiar characters from childhood and delightful foods, revisiting the bedtime fairy tales you once never tired of hearing. It reminds us to cherish all beautiful moments and once again fully embrace and enjoy the simple, genuine local culture and innocent joy that have grown with us.
