The Peninsula Bangkok is preparing to celebrate Loy Krathong on Thursday, November 6, with a grand celebration party by the Chao Phraya River. The origin of Loy Krathong comes from the Thai tradition of releasing krathongs (floating lanterns) as a way to give thanks to the water goddess. Nowadays, many Thais craft intricate krathongs from lotus or banana leaves, place a candle and incense inside, and float them on the river to ward off bad luck and make wishes.

The Loy Krathong celebration party at The Peninsula Bangkok will offer guests a selection of fine dining, soothing live music, and captivating puppet shows by the award-winning Joe Louis Theatre. All attendees of the celebration can also create their own unique personal krathong—from preparing the materials and constructing the wooden raft to decorating it—immersing themselves in the full experience. Guests may also release their krathongs into the Chao Phraya River from the hotel’s private pier.

The Peninsula Bangkok invites guests to celebrate Loy Krathong under the full moon. The Loy Krathong Stay Package is available for Deluxe Rooms at 21,000++ THB and Terrace Rooms at 22,000++ THB. Reservations are accepted from now until October 31, 2014, for stays from November 5 to 7, 2014.
