A Presidential-Grade Maple Viewing Paradise: Fushoushan Farm

Situated in the hills behind Lishan in Taichung, Fushoushan Farm was initially a purely agricultural operation set up to settle veterans for farming. Over time, as agriculture waned and societal changes accelerated, the farm transitioned in accordance with national policies to become the leisure and sightseeing destination it is today.

Covering a vast area of 670 hectares, Fushoushan Farm experiences distinct seasons, offering different landscapes at different times, leading to the saying: “January—snowflakes in flight, February—peach blossoms in praise, March—dancing cherry blooms, April—laughing pears, May—tea-picking fragrance, June—golden chrysanthemums, July—searching for peach aromas, August—tasting sweet pears, September—harvesting joy, October—autumn bounty, November—brilliant red maples, December—frosted elegance.” This rich tapestry of seasonal scenery has made Fushoushan a highly sought-after attraction in recent years.

The farm is located five kilometers behind Lishan and is renowned for producing a variety of fruits and high-altitude vegetables. The famous Tianchi (Heavenly Lake) lies at the highest point within the farm. In the first half of the year, plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms, pear blossoms, apple blossoms, and various other flowers bloom in vibrant profusion, creating a delightful and picturesque scene—so beautiful, they say, that living here could prolong one’s life. In the second half of the year, it’s the season when various fruits ripen, including the area’s famous peaches, pears, kiwis, walnuts, plums, California plums, and high-altitude vegetables. Most uniquely precious is the area’s exclusive honey apples, which are juicy and crisp, almost as if dipped in honey, offering an incredibly sweet taste.
