The foot soaking pool at Sulfur Valley hot spring is located in Sulfur Valley, between Quanyuan Road and the west side of Xingyi Road in Beitou District, and is part of the geothermal landscape area of Sulfur Valley within Yangmingshan National Park. This area was formerly known as Dasuangzui, the site where early settler Yu Yonghe extracted sulfur (in 1697), featuring rich volcaniclastic and sedimentary rock landforms as well as cultural and historical sites. The valley has multiple fumaroles, sulfur vents, and geothermal hot springs, with white steam swirling and heat rising continuously from the ground—an impressive sight that marks the origin of Beitou’s hot springs.

The Bureau of Industrial Development stated that the Sulfur Valley foot soaking pool is designed to blend with the surrounding natural landscape. The shelter structure features a wooden frame that mimics the undulating contours of mountains, while the park is lush with trees and green grass. Visitors can enjoy the sounds of flowing water and birdsong, away from the hustle and bustle. The public is welcome to come and experience the tranquility and leisure of nature. The foot soaking pool can accommodate approximately 60 people at a time.Scheduled to open to the public starting Wednesday, September 10, 2014 (103 year, 9th month, 10th day in Taiwan calendar), offering the public a chance to enjoy the benefits of soaking their feet in hot springs and boosting their health.

Stable hot spring resource
The hot spring water for this foot soaking pool is supplied by the Taipei Water Department. The department drilled a geothermal well in the Sulfur Valley spring source area of Beitou, extracted the geothermal water, and then mixed it with clean water in a blending well to create an artificial hot spring. The spring water is classified as acidic sulfate, with a pH value of 3.2–4.6, a yellowish-white color, and a sulfur odor, commonly referred to as “white sulfur.” The temperature ranges from 40–60°C. It is generally believed to have positive effects on relieving arthritis and neuralgia.
