Da Dao Cheng is fragrant with coffee aroma as Starbucks unveils its distinctive heritage-guard store

Starbucks Taiwan has searched Taiwan for distinctive historic buildings to infuse local cultural characteristics, filling traditional houses with the aroma of coffee and stepping into the cradle of Taipei’s culture and history—“Da Dao Cheng.” The Starbucks “Bao’an Store” officially opened on September 25. It is also the ninth Reserve® store in Taiwan, where customers can look forward to hand-brewed services and the rich variety of Starbucks coffee flavors.

The Starbucks Bao’an Store is located at the intersection of Chongqing N. Road Section 2 and Bao’an Street, with the entire store spanning three floors and covering 131 ping (approximately 434 square meters), offering a total of 158 indoor and outdoor seats. Not only does the exterior retain the Baroque architectural charm of the historic Ye Jintu residence, but the Starbucks team has also created a unique concept of “Modern Heritage,” merging retro and modern styles throughout the interior design. The stairwell walls display historical photos of Da Dao Cheng rendered in hand-drawn, ink-wash, and watercolor styles, echoing the first-ever Starbucks store at Pike Place. This harmoniously blends different eras of past and present, while also carrying forward the spirit and characteristics of Da Dao Cheng as a melting pot of Eastern and Western cultures.
