Halloween Fun: Trick or Treat

The Chinese have the Ghost Month, while the West has Halloween. As one of the major holidays in the Western world, Halloween arrives every October, and destinations around the globe roll out a variety of spooky celebrations — monster parades, pumpkin decorations, nighttime adventures — where the eerie thrill of ghosts clashes hilariously with the fun of festivities, creating an electric atmosphere.

In October, both Tokyo Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland launch special Halloween events. Hong Kong Disneyland unveils a brand-new “Disney Paint the Night” nighttime parade, featuring seven all-new floats adorned with over 740,000 individual LED lights that create mysterious and romantic light shows while bringing classic Disney stories to life. Tokyo Disneyland not only offers a range of exclusive Halloween merchandise but also unveils themed areas that only appear during the season. Disney characters are ready to throw a unique costume party as night falls, with spooky figures lurking throughout the park, offering a totally different ambiance.

Halloween is a major holiday in English-speaking countries. During the season, not only are there various pumpkin-themed activities across the UK, but people also dress up as ghosts and ghouls, exclaiming “Trick or Treat!” In London, pubs and bars host Halloween parties, and bar-hopping is a popular activity. On Halloween day, you’ll spot spooky figures in shops and, occasionally, zombies and vampires on the move in the Tube — don’t get too spooked.

This 90-minute Ghost Walk, led by professional guides dressed as “ghost messengers,” takes you through Stockholm’s Old Town (Gamla Stan) to explore ancient corners along cobblestone streets and medieval alleys. You’ll hear haunting tales of unsolved murders, legends of haunted mansions, and urban myths left from the medieval Black Death. The tour also includes the Grand Square, a tourist site where a noble massacre once took place, offering insight into the darker chapters of Sweden’s independence. Ghost Walk avoids staged scares, as they’re confident in immersing explorers in the most natural supernatural atmosphere — enough to send shivers down your spine. Daredevils might even try going solo for an extra challenge.
