Comparable to Japan's cherry blossoms revealed: 21 cherry blossom trails in Taipei City

The Taipei City Department of Urban Development has recommended 21 nearby cherry blossom trails in the city, inviting everyone to take advantage of this season of the year when the forest landscapes are the most diverse and rich, and embark on a healthy, joyful, and romantic trail adventure.

Taipei City’s forested trail environments are diverse and rich, with many deciduous plants in the midst of changing into their new hues. For example, the “yellow” century-old soapberry trees along the Hengling Trail in Beitou District, the “red” mountain lacquer and thiefwood trees along the Datouwei Mountain Trail in Shilin District, as well as the clusters of “white” Miscanthus flowers near the Little Sky Trail and Denggao Trail in Wenshan District, all add warmth to the otherwise desolate winter scenery. It is recommended that you take some leisure time to visit the mountains and forests on the outskirts of Taipei to witness their colorful beauty.

The Department of Urban Development stated that the most popular color in the forests right now is the pink of cherry blossom trees blanketing the hillsides. Take Beitou District, which has the highest density of cherry blossom groves in Taipei City. Hikers descending from the “Shangqing Temple Trail” will pass by multiple popular cherry blossom viewing spots, including the Shangqing Temple itself. Alternatively, you can walk along the “Fengwei Trail,” which cuts through a sea of cherry blossoms, where you can fully immerse yourself in the overwhelming beauty of the blossoms. Additionally, the “Zhongzheng Mountain Hiking Trail” stretches across several kilometers of continuous cherry blossoms along the hiking path. Last year, the Department added an entrance feature themed around cherry blossoms at the trailhead, which complements the surrounding cherry blossom trees and has become very popular among visitors.
