2015 Yangmingshan Flower Festival Kicks Off: Romantic Blooms of Cherry and Camellia

The 2015 Yangmingshan Flower Festival begins on February 7, 104, and runs until March 15, totaling 37 days. Within the various themed scenic spots of Yangmingshan Park—including the Flower Clock, fountains, cherry blossom groves, the visitor center, the statue of Wang Yangming, and more—visitors will be greeted by a dazzling array of blooming flowers, creating an enchanting landscape. The park is home to nearly 3,200 cherry blossom trees of various kinds, including double-petal cherry (yaezakura), mountain cherry, Showa cherry, and Yoshino cherry, which bloom in succession like a relay race.

Spring is the liveliest season in Yangmingshan Park. As far as the eye can see, various plants and flowers—including mountain cherry blossoms, wild peonies, Hydrangea paniculata, azaleas, four-season begonias, and peach blossoms—compete in a vibrant display of color, presenting a breathtakingly beautiful mountain scenery. In recent years, the Yangmingshan Flower Festival has become an international tourist attraction. During the festival, large floral walls made of planted greenery are set up in the parking lots of Yangmingshan Park, along with various horticultural displays. The event also incorporates cultural and school group performances, including music and art shows, creating a world-renowned international destination.

This year’s flower festival also features special exhibitions by both domestic and international painters, invited by the Taipei City Government. The works of Japan’s nationally renowned master, Shunsuke Gotō, will be displayed at the Guangfu Building in Yangmingshan Park.
