Known as Japan’s largest winter light festival, the Nagashima Spa Land Winter Illuminations in Chōshi, Mie Prefecture, kicked off on October 25, 2014, and continued until March 31, 2015. Nagashima Spa Land is a large outdoor park themed around seasonal flowers and greenery, and boasts what is said to be Japan’s largest “Flower Plaza,” where a variety of flowers bloom in all seasons. During the winter illumination period, the beauty of nature is also interpreted through various stunning light displays.

This year’s Winter Illuminations used approximately85010 million bulbs to create a magnificent spectacle. In addition to the100meter-long corridor of light, this year also features a Niagara Falls-themed light display over120meters wide, with dazzling lights creating a majestic scene, as well as a starry “sea of clouds” reminiscent of the Milky Way, which also returns this year. Countless bulbs are woven together to depict beautiful seasonal landscapes.
