Travel to Japan just got easier — Evergreen Airlines now flies daily from Kaohsiung to Osaka!

Evergreen Airlines launched its Kaohsiung–Osaka route on February 5. To celebrate the new route, the airline held a special inauguration ceremony at Kaohsiung’s Xiaogang International Airport Terminal, which was simple yet grand. At the same time, during the press conference, the airline also announced that, seeing strong market potential for travel from southern Taiwan to Japan, it will launch a new route from Kaohsiung to Fukuoka starting March 31 to further tap into the Taiwan–Japan travel market.

 

Japan has always been one of the most popular travel destinations for Taiwanese, offering unique experiences in every season. With the double advantages of a weaker yen and tax-free shopping, the number of Taiwanese visitors to Japan reached 2.82 million in 2014, an impressive annual growth rate of 28%, making them the largest group of foreign visitors to Japan. To meet the growing demand, Evergreen Airlines has not only added the new Kaohsiung–Osaka and Kaohsiung–Fukuoka routes this year but also plans to increase flight frequency on existing Taiwan–Japan routes from Kaohsiung, as well as potentially open additional new Japanese destinations from Kaohsiung.

In addition, starting March 29, the Taoyuan–Hakodate route will increase from three flights per week to seven, while the Taoyuan–Osaka route will go from 16 to 21 flights per week.After launching new routes and increasing frequencies at the end of March, Evergreen Airlines will serve a total of nine Japanese destinations: Sapporo, Hakodate, Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, Sendai, Komatsu, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Okinawa, with a total of 104 weekly flights.

Meanwhile, Taiwan is also a major destination for Japanese travelers. In 2014, 1.63 million Japanese visitors came to Taiwan, reflecting a 15% year-on-year increase. Leveraging its presence in both Kaohsiung and Taoyuan with flights to Tokyo Narita, Osaka, and Fukuoka, Evergreen Airlines will actively promote North-in–South-out and South-in–North-out itineraries in Japan, attracting more Japanese tourists to experience Taiwan’s diverse northern and southern landscapes and local culture in a time- and cost-efficient way.
