The Taoyuan Airport MRT is expected to begin operations by the end of 2015. With approximately 95% of the construction already completed, the project is nearly finished. The most anticipated fare is expected to be around NT$200. Once operational, the direct ride between Taipei Main Station and Taoyuan Airport will take just 35 minutes.

The Airport MRT runs from Taipei Main Station southward through Taoyuan International Airport to Taoyuan Zhongli Railway Station. Along the route, it stops at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou, Airport Terminals 1, 2, and 3, Airport Hotel, and the High-Speed Rail station, among others. The entire line has 22 stations and spans 51 kilometers. Trains will come in two colors representing two types: purple express trains and blue local trains. The purple express trains depart from Taipei Main Station and only stop at major urban and airport stations, reaching Terminal 1 of Taoyuan Airport in just 35 minutes. The blue local trains stop at every station, taking about 70 minutes to reach Terminal 1. In the future, both types of trains will run alternately, with an average frequency of one train every 5 minutes.

Additionally, the Airport MRT will offer check-in and baggage drop-off services for outbound passengers at major stations. Travelers can complete these procedures at various Airport MRT stations and then head to the airport with ease.

Construction on the MRT to the airport is still ongoing, and whether it can open by the end of 2015 has been questioned by legislators and related agencies. The engineering team responsible has stated that they will do their utmost to expedite work and complete necessary testing to avoid delays in the scheduled opening.
