To adapt to changing modern lifestyles, the new main branch of the New Taipei City Public Library is moving toward greater diversity by offering a brand-new 24-hour, never-closing reading service, making it the longest-operating public library in Taiwan. The new main library has 10 floors above ground and 3 underground, covering a site area of over 6,000 square meters. Inside, there are up to 1,100 types of periodicals and magazines, an anime and music corridor, as well as self-study spaces, aiming to meet the needs of different readers and providing a quiet and comfortable place for night owls, service industry workers, and students to read even late at night.

In addition, the new main branch’s design accommodates diverse activity needs for different groups. For instance, the first floor offers dining services, while the second floor features a senior resource area with desks and chairs suitable for elderly readers, along with aids such as reading lamps, magnifiers, color magnification devices, and simple blood pressure monitors. The periodical reading area provides 1,100 types of magazines — the largest collection among all public libraries in Taiwan. The 24-hour study room, designed for students, utilizes seat management and access control systems. Readers can check in and out using their library cards, with real-time monitoring of seat availability.
