Collect India’s most beautiful colors – the must-visit vibrant quartet of pink, white, blue, and gold cities

People who have been to India are always amazed by the saturated colors visible everywhere in the country. From the spices in markets or women’s saris to the architecture of entire cities, everything is painted in unified thematic hues. Among them, in India’s Rajasthan Province (Rajastan), there are four famous “color cities,” including the Pink City Jaipur, the White City Udaipur, the Blue City Jodhpur, and the Golden City Jaisalmer.

● Pink City – Jaipur
Known as the Pink City, Jaipur is one of the most well-known of India’s “color cities.” It is one corner of North India’s “Golden Triangle of Tourism.” The ancient buildings were ordered to be painted pink by the Maharaja of Jaipur in the 19th century to welcome the visit of the Prince of Wales from Britain, hence earning the city its current title as the “Pink City.”

● White City – Udaipur, India
Due to many of the buildings in the old town area being predominantly white, it has earned the nickname of the White City. In addition, the “Udai” in Udaipur (Udaipur) actually means “Sunrise” in Hindi, so Udaipur is also known as the “City of Sunrise.”

● Blue City – Jodhpur
The blue seen all over the Blue City Jodhpur (Jodhpur) belongs to the color associated with the Brahmin caste, the highest tier in the caste system. Because members of the highest class, who are the least in number, sought to distinguish themselves from other castes, they painted their buildings blue. Another theory suggests that blue has mosquito-repelling properties, which is how the Blue City came to be.
