Japan’s new sky landmark creates Monet’s hanging garden!

To coincide with Golden Week, Seibu Department Store in Tokyo created the “Garden of Food and Greenery” on the rooftop of its Ikebukuro main store’s ninth floor at the end of April. The most eye-catching feature is the real-life recreation of Monet’s work “Water Lilies,” allowing guests to enjoy delicious food while also experiencing the beauty of the four seasons, one flower at a time, creating a true urban oasis.

Seibu Department Store in Tokyo has long been popular among younger crowds, offering everything from stationery and kitchenware to health goods — a favorite stop for high school students and office workers on their way home. This time, the “Garden of Food and Greenery” on the ninth floor of the Ikebukuro main store has been designed as an urban oasis, spanning 5,800 square meters of rooftop garden. The highlight is the “Water Lilies Garden,” which recreates the serene and harmonious scenery of Monet’s Water Lilies series. Visitors can freely admire the lazily blooming water lilies in the pond.

In addition, the garden offers a variety of international dishes in street-food style for guests to enjoy. After ordering, you can sit leisurely in the green-surrounded garden to savor your meal. In the evening, you can also relax outdoors with food and drinks. Seasonal limited-time menu items are also available here. Beyond catering to adults, there is also a children’s play area equipped with simple amusement facilities for kids to enjoy.
