In June 2014, the Oigawa Railway in Shizuoka Prefecture launched Asia's first "Thomas the Tank Engine" steam train, attracting numerous tourists, railway enthusiasts, and fans of Thomas to come and ride. The seats were in extremely high demand. In 2015, Thomas returned on June 7 and was scheduled to run until October 12, operating for a total of 74 days. In addition to Thomas, this year his good friend James also joined the train operations!
