New railway stations added on the TRA route from Pingtung to Chaozhou, with IC card compatibility

In line with the opening of the double-track elevated electrified railway between Pingtung and Chaozhou and the launch of the Chaozhou Depot, train schedules have been adjusted. Starting from midnight on October 15,Guilai, Linluo, Xishi, Zhutian, and Chaozhoufive stations will offer electronic ticketing services. Taiwan Railways stated that since the launch of electronic ticketing services in central Taiwan and Yilan in late June, the service area has now expanded from Pingtung to Chaozhou. A total of 169 stations along the line will now accept electronic tickets, with an estimated 300,000 passengers benefiting daily.

Additionally, Taiwan Railways noted that it will continue to install IC card-compatible ticket validation equipment across the island-wide rail network. The goal is to achieve full IC card accessibility across the entire TRA network by mid-2016, allowing passengers to use electronic cards to ride trains anywhere in Taiwan and conveniently transfer to other public transport options—realizing the goal of seamless island-wide travel with just one card.
