Sekai no Yamachan is an izakaya chain brand that originated in Nagoya, Japan in 1981. In addition to being popular in Japan, it also has as many as 76 outlets in Hong Kong and Thailand. Taiwan will become its third overseas location, with plans to open its first Taiwanese store in Taipei’s Xinyi District in November 2015.

Taiwan’s first store is expected to have 152 seats, making it one of the larger branches of Sekai no Yamachan. In addition to standard Japanese izakaya dishes, the store’s most well-known item is its signature “Fantasy Fried Chicken Wings” (Fantasy Fried Chicken Wings), available in both original and black chicken flavors.The black chicken wings are marinated before frying, giving them a richer taste and making them a very popular drinking snack. In addition, the store also offers fried foods, sashimi, salads, hot pot, skewers, as well as Japanese beers, sours, and shochu.
