Since it’s a youth hostel, there is a strong emphasis on guest interaction. FlipFlop Hostel is located near Taipei Transfer Station (Taipei Main Station, also known as Jingzhan) and Taipei Railway Station. It is a youth hostel entirely renovated from a former Taiwan Railways employee dormitory. Though it has no prominent signboard, it features exterior and interior murals created by local cross-disciplinary artist Andi Yang, and the stairwells retain the old dormitory’s window frames and terrazzo stairs.

There is a public computer next to the reception desk, and the walls are covered with postcards left and sent by guests. Bring your own postcard, write down your thoughts, and you can get a NT$30 discount on your stay fee. The hostel regularly hosts various interactive activities, such as Mid-Autumn Festival music concerts, frequent traveler experience sharing sessions, and has even co-hosted film exhibitions. Please note that FlipFlop is housed in an old building without an elevator, so carrying heavy luggage up and down the stairs can be a bit challenging.
