Do you enjoy airplane meals? Turkish Airlines ranks best globally; Singapore Airlines serves lobster

Are airplane meals always disappointing? That might just be a myth. Having circled the globe 17 times, flown 420,080 miles, and visited 44 countries, blogger Nik Loukas shared his in-flight dining experiences online. In his experience, some low-cost carriers actually serve surprisingly good meals.

CNN interviewed Loukas, who was born in Australia and grew up in Dublin. His passion for aviation led him to work in the travel industry for over 15 years. A role involving in-flight catering sparked his curiosity on the topic. He began documenting meals from various airlines on his blog, including reviews and the latest aviation news.

Over the past four years, he has collected data on 403 flights across 65 airlines. He believesTurkish Airlines consistently delivers good meals with generous portions, even on short-haul flights. Close behind is Singapore Airlines’ Book the Cook service in first class, where he enjoyed lobster and caviar on the Singapore to Melbourne route.

But great dining experiences aren’t limited to first class. He also noted that sushi and steak served by Osaka’s Peach Aviation and Turkey’s Pegasus Airlines are quite good.Loukas suggests that some special meals can be pre-ordered, and advises carefully reviewing the airline’s meal options beforehand.
