New romantic attraction in Chiayi: the glass high-heel shoe church with sea views

Following the huge popularity of the Crystal Church in southern Taiwan, the Yunlin-Kaohsiung-Tainan Area Administration is set to unveil a uniquely designed "High-Heel Shoe Church" at Chiayi's Budai Sea View Park. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year and is poised to become the next hot topic in the region.

The High-Heel Shoe Church is located in Budai Sea View Park, Chiayi. It stands 17 meters tall at its highest point and is about 11 meters wide. Its exterior is made up of over 320 pieces of glass, giving it a strikingly beautiful appearance. Its design and installation are not only the first of their kind in Taiwan but also the only ones in the world. The Yunlin-Kaohsiung-Tainan Area Administration explained that the glass high-heel symbolizes “the dream every little girl has of owning a beautiful pair of high heels to accompany her on a graceful and elegant life journey. In Taiwan, before a bride joins her husband’s family, she must step on and break a tile with her high heels, discarding all the bad things from the past—just as the broken tile is discarded—and starting everything anew on a beautiful note.”
