It’s common for travelers visiting Japan to take a railway tour, but this time, railway fans don’t need to fly all the way to Japan—the ‘Great Railway Exhibition’ is right here in Taipei’s Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The exhibition showcases rare models from four major Japanese railway companies: JR Central, JR East, Keikyu, and Seibu. The exhibition runs from January 16 to April 17, and railway enthusiasts should seize the opportunity to visit.

The most special feature of the exhibition is the super cool maglev train experience imported from Japan. Based on real maglev technology, the ‘simulated maglev train’ allows visitors to personally drive the ‘TETORO’ railway interactive toy and get an early taste of cutting-edge future technology. Other highlights include the legendary and dreamy EF-510 Hokutosei, the ultra-popular Dr. Yellow, the Shinkansen Nozomi and Hikari series trains, as well as railway vehicles from around the world—all on display at the venue.

The exhibition also features rare Japanese trains such as limited express trains, sightseeing trains, Shinkansen, sleeper trains, and other valuable models, along with world-famous railway vehicles. Visitors can explore detailed chronological information to learn about railway history while observing various unique models. Additionally, you can dress up as a train conductor and take photos with your favorite locomotives—it’s no longer just a dream to become a conductor yourself.
