A Must-See in 2016: Asia’s First Ghibli World Exhibition Comes to Taiwan

If you’ve ever imagined what it would be like to step into these beloved animation worlds, then you absolutely can’t miss this summer’s spectacular exhibition — the “Ghibli’s Animation World” special exhibition, which will grandly open at Huashan 1914 Creative Park from June 18 to September 18 this year.

The “Ghibli’s Animation World” special exhibition brings together the most iconic works from Japan’s most beloved animation studio, making it the first large-scale exhibition of its kind in Taiwan. This exhibition is not only a nostalgic journey for those who grew up with these films, but also a dreamlike experience for fans. The exhibition hall will feature more than 23 classic scenes from various beloved animations, including Totoro’s treehouse, the bakery where Kiki the witch stayed, the flying city of Laputa, and the bathhouse where Chihiro worked… There’s no need to go to Japan to immerse yourself in the joyful and touching world of Ghibli animations — you can experience it right here in Taiwan. Additionally, for the first time in Taiwan, the exhibition will showcase rare original manuscripts from The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, allowing fans to fully enjoy the captivating and moving universe of Ghibli.

Early bird tickets for the “Ghibli’s Animation World” special exhibition will go on sale on April 11 via the udn Tickets website, with general sales starting across all channels on May 5. It is estimated that over 500,000 visitors will come to see the exhibition during its three-month run in Taipei, making it one of the most anticipated summer highlights of 2016.
