The library resembling a pyramid overlooks the blue sky and sea in Taiwan

One of the most beautiful libraries in Taiwan is arguably the library at Taitung University. With its unique design resembling a massive ancient civilization ruin, it looks even more stunning against the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky and green lawns, making it one of the must-visit landmarks in Taitung.

The Taitung University Library and Information Center is a five-story above-ground and one-story below-ground building. Officially unveiled and put into use at the end of 2014, the library’s design, nestled against the mountain and by the lake, stands out on its own. Thanks to the architect's thoughtful incorporation of mountain and water imagery, it cleverly echoes Taitung University’s unique geographical landscape surrounded by mountains and sea.

The northern part of the library is a five-story, mountain-shaped building — Taitung University’s pyramid for storing educational knowledge. The southern information center is a two-story structure that, when viewed from above, winds like flowing water along the shores of Mirror Heart Lake. On the third floor of the library, you can also enjoy panoramic views of the vast Pacific Ocean.
