Nintendo to Open Mario-Themed Facility at Universal Studios Japan

The renowned Japanese gaming company Nintendo has announced its entry into Universal Studios Osaka, planning to invest 40 billion yen in building a Nintendo-themed area named “Mario Area” before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Nintendo is one of the world’s most well-known gaming companies, boasting a rich catalog of classic games including “Super Mario” and “Donkey Kong.” Additionally, the popular animated series “Pokémon” (Pocket Monsters) is also a product of its subsidiary. In recent years, Universal Studios Osaka has not only leveraged its extensive film resources but has also actively collaborated with local anime elements such as One Piece, Resident Evil, and Attack on Titan, launching numerous limited-time events that have generated significant buzz in the park.

This brand-new “Mario Area” will follow the operational model of the Harry Potter area, serving as a long-term themed zone. The area will be tightly integrated with Nintendo game themes, featuring related game-themed attractions, shops, and restaurants. Of course, many classic Nintendo characters such as Mario will take center stage here, making it highly anticipated.
