Upholding the food-and-farming spirit, the Pingtung Colorful Rice Life Festival aims to transform Longshui—this rare gem of a place—from just a photo spot into a meaningful gathering point for creating memories. With this vision, the concept of a “Rice Field Dining Table” was introduced. In Longshui, known as the “hometown of master chefs,” the combination of local pristine water, high-quality rice, and fresh ingredients creates a perfect harmony.

Key Highlights of the Event
【Rice Field Dining Table】The 2016 Pingtung Colorful Rice Life Festival hosted a grand feast prepared by master chefs right on the rice fields. Five top chefs from Pingtung engaged in a friendly culinary showdown between mountain and coastal styles. As the sun set over the fields, they cooked up a storm using locally sourced ingredients, creating a romantic dining ambiance in the heart of the paddies. The five chefs—Liu Rongyu (Fangliao), Zhu Zhiyang (Mudan), A-Shun (Wanlitong), Lin Qiuyue (Longshui), and Shen Meixiang (Longshui)—served up their specialties amidst the rice fields.
Rice Field Dining Table – Master Chefs Serve Up
4:30–5:00 PM Check-in at the rice fields, introduction to Longshui Organic Rice Farming Area
5:00–5:30 PM Introduction to local ingredients & stories from the master chefs
5:30–7:00 PM Dinner served: Enjoy the lavish Rice Field Dining Table feast

Longshui Community Traditional Rice Food DIY
Experience the sweetness of organic rice from Langjiao firsthand. Families and kids are welcome to DIY traditional desserts like red turtle cakes and enjoy an authentic, delightful time.
Event Dates: April 2–4 & April 5, plus every Saturday and Sunday during the event period
Event Location: Longshui Community Kitchen (next to Baoling Temple in Longshui Village)
Daily Sessions: 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 (6 sessions per day)
Duration: 1 hour per session
Fee: NT$200 per person

Longshui Community Big Bowl Rice Meal
With its sweet and delicious rice, the Longshui community has developed a thriving rice food culture and launched a Big Bowl Rice Meal featuring local ingredients.
Inspired by the hearty harvest meals prepared by farmers during busy planting seasons to treat helpers, this big bowl meal includes a variety of local ingredients. It offers a nostalgic taste of the past while reflecting the farmers’ sincerity and warmth.
